Judenburg is located in a region which possesses some of the richest Austrian traditions in steel production and processing.
As early as 1906, pioneers in steel Sebastian DANNER and Konrad WITTGENSTEIN established Steirische Gußstahlwerke Danner & Co. The steel melting works was supplemented by a rolling mill and forge. Changes in ownership and the two world wars failed to affect the stability of the company.
The steel crises in the seventies and eighties led the company to its decision in favour of concentrating on “BRIGHT STEEL” in Judenburg—representing a concession to the changing requirements of the global market.
In 1995, GEORGSMARIENHÜTTE GmbH finally acquired a 100% stake in the then VOEST-ALPINE STAHL Judenburg GmbH, a subsidiary of VOEST-ALPINE-DONAWITZ, signalling its emergence among the league of global players.
Meanwhile, STAHL JUDENBURG GmbH is regarded as a top manufacturer in a variety of areas of the toughest industrial sectors worldwide where it presents itself as a materials supplier with a high degree of quality and customer orientation and as an industrial company realising high standards in terms of ecological awareness.
We are proud to work in a town which is surrounded by splendid scenery and an unspoilt environment. Customers and partners are welcome to visit and admire our magnificent mountain region at any time.
